It's alive!!!

With the amazing Investing in Artists: Tools & Equipment Grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation I received in Nov 2025 we here at The Ranch Houston in partnership of Third Coast Clay on N. Main St here in town have gotten power to the kiln Hive Houston donated to The Ranch Houston in Jan 2025. Once the kiln was powered up we found that the controller board was shot so using the grant money we ordered a new Bartlett controller board. Once we had the new part installed in the kiln we ran its first test firing at bisque level. The kiln ran like a champ. We are now currently testing glaze firing temps on an empty test firing. We’re 4 hours into the firing and just a few hundred degrees away from another successful firing. All signs are pointing to us having a fully functioning kiln here at The Ranch Houston for faster turn arounds on our ceramic programing. We’re so happy for this upgrade to the farm.
